Congratulations! You’ve made the decision to consider studying abroad, and we are excited you are here.
Below is a quick step-by-step guide on the study abroad process.
Step 1: Think about what type of experience you want. Check out our How to Choose a Program page.
Step 2: Attend a Study Abroad 101 session. All students who wish to study abroad must attend one session before applying to a study abroad program.
Step 3: Meet with your advisors. If you have more questions after attending a Study Abroad 101 session, you are welcome to book an appointment with a study abroad advisor (this is not a requirement). You are also strongly encouraged to meet with your regular academic advisor to discuss your study abroad plans and confirm you are on track for your intended graduation date.
Step 4: Submit an application in Horizons before the application deadline.
Step 5: Once your application is approved by the Center of Global Education team, begin the post-acceptance process. This will include things like applying directly to the programs, getting a visa, purchasing airfare, etc. All this information will be given to you once approved, so do not worry!
Step 6: Consider your finances for studying abroad and begin applying to study abroad scholarships. You will find tons of helpful information on our Finances and Scholarships page.
