Overview

During a semester at PC in Rome, students enroll in 16 credits. As part of their course schedule, students are required to take The New Testament in the Eternal City (Theology core requirement) and an Italian language course (free elective). With the exception of the Italian language courses, all classes are taught in English.

Classes take place at the CEA CAPA Center in the historic Prati neighborhood near the Vatican off of Piazza Cavour. A large portion of class time is spent on-site at significant sites in and near the Eternal City. Locations include the Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Catacombs of San Callisto. Classes are taught by Global Campus faculty, including local experts and scholars.

Students also have the option of cross-enrolling in an English taught course in Political Science, Economics, or Theology. These classes are held at the prestigious Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli di Roma (LUISS). Here, they will study alongside Italian students, and advanced Italian speakers will have the opportunity to take courses in Italian.

In terms of housing options, students can select from a homestay (live with a host family) or apartment (live with an Italian housemate).

The application deadline for participation in PC in Rome is the regular December deadline for all study abroad programs. The program cost includes Providence College tuition, a $1,000 Study Abroad Fee, and CEA CAPA room and other fees. Please refer to our Finances and Scholarships page for more information.
