About the Program:
Each student must select a study area, or internship track. The track students choose determines their internship placement as well as the Core Courses and Internship Courses they will take while studying abroad in London. Tracks include:
- Advertising and Marketing
- Economics and Finance
- International Relations
- Management
- Public Relations
For the first five weeks of the program, known as the Core Phase, students will take the required core course for their track to prepare for their internships and one elective course (two courses that are four-credits each). Students also meet with the program’s internship placement advisers to refine their area of work placement according to ability, professional goals, experience, and work habits. Some of these elective courses have a limited enrollment and will be filled on a first come, first-served basis.
For weeks six through thirteen, students will embark on the internship phase of the program. Students participate in London’s work life through assigned internships that complement their particular academic concentration and personal goals. Students intern full time, four days a week, while enrolled in a weekly elective course and an internship course (two courses that are four-credits each). Students are automatically enrolled in the appropriate Internship Course assigned to their track. For the elective course, students are encouraged to enroll in the course that is specifically designed for their track/internship. Please note that some courses have a limited enrollment, and priority will be given to students registered in the track for which the course was designed.
Sample Courses Taken By Past Program Participants
Note: In order to determine whether a particular course will be offered, you will need to look at the course catalog for the Boston University Internship Program. It is also important to note that students on this program cannot simply select any four courses. They need to choose a “Core Course” an “Internship Course,” and one elective offered during the first half of the semester, and another elective offered during the second half of the semester. Visit the BU London website to see which of the courses below fall into each of the four categories.
The courses below have been taken by previous students, but are not guaranteed to be offered during future semesters. Students and advisors should verify all PC equivalencies by using the Course Articulation Database, which has more current data than the static table below.
