Housing and Cost

Housing

IES will arrange housing for CIV in London students in shared accommodations that are located in either a residence hall or serviced student flat in central London. No meals are included with this housing, but internet and kitchen facilities are available. IES provides weekly cleaning and bed linens.

Cost

Providence College is on a Home School Tuition payment model. Under the Home School Tuition policy, Providence College institutional merit and need-based financial aid is portable for semester and academic year study abroad. We recommend that all students connect directly with their Financial Aid counselors to discuss the specifics of any aid they receive and to ensure that it will apply to the CIV in London program.

Students receive two invoices for the study abroad semester. A summary of the Home School Tuition billing model is listed below.

Bill from Providence College

Unless the student has outstanding charges, the only costs that will appear on the PC bill for the semester include:

  • PC tuition as normal (scholarships and financial aid are generally portable to study abroad)
  • $1,000 PC Study Abroad Fee
  • Student Health Insurance (only for students enrolled in the campus Student Health Insurance Plan)

Bill from IES

As mentioned above, Providence College pays the program for tuition costs only. Therefore, the student will be directly billed by IES for the following items.

  • A non-refundable deposit to secure a place on the program (generally due in October or November prior to departure)
  • All non-tuition program fees, including housing (approx. $5,500 for the semester) and supplemental insurance (approx. $250 for the semester) that should be purchased in addition to the health insurance that typically covers students

Additional Costs

There will be additional costs to consider outside of what Providence College and IES bills for the CIV in London program. While this is not an exhaustive list, some expenses include round-trip airfare (approx. $1100), books, and personal spending.
